From the evening of Saturday 3 June to the morning of Sunday 4 June, heavy rains affected many communities in the province of Esmeraldas. A total of 2,985 homes were flooded, affecting more than 11,750 people.
The heavy rains caused the Teaone River to overflow, causing flooding in the municipalities of Esmeraldas, Atacamenes, Quinindé and Muisne.
In the community of Carlos Concha, the overflowing of the Teaone River not only caused damage to public and private homes and facilities, but also led to the collapse of the system that supplies the community with drinking water, due to damage to the pumping system and the well that supplies the community.
As a result of the damage caused, the emergency situation has now spread to the community of Carlos Concha, in the province of Esmeraldas, Ecuador, due to the high risk of consumption of contaminated water, which can cause epidemics of cholera, hepatitis and gastrointestinal diseases of water origin.
Humanitarian aid to restore access to drinking water for the community of Carlos Concha, in order to prevent the consumption of contaminated water that could cause epidemics of cholera, hepatitis and gastrointestinal diseases.
The early response provided a solution to provide a sustainable water system for the community of Carlos Concha Parish, providing them with the vital liquid and preventing them from contracting gastrointestinal diseases from the contaminated water they were receiving.
Achieve operational sustainability and continue to provide drinking water.
